On May 29, 2022, a passenger plane operated by Nepali carrier Tara Air crashed in the Himalayas, killing 22 people. The plane, a Twin Otter aircraft, was on its way from Pokhara to Jomsom, a renowned trekking destination.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority, the plane 'met an accident' about 14,500 feet above ground level in the Sanosware area of Mustang district's Thasang municipality.
Rescuers, including military and private helicopters, braved bad weather to comb the isolated mountainous terrain on Sunday, but the search was called off when night fell. The search resumed on Monday, with the army posting a photo on social media depicting airplane parts and other wreckage littering a sheer slope.
So far, 16 bodies have been recovered, and teams are searching for the remaining six. Chances of survival are low, but our efforts continue to find them,
