On a shocking weekend, Nairobi City Stars players fell victim to a robbery during a Kenyan Premier League match at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani, Nairobi.
According to City Stars Chief Executive Patrick Korir, the incident occurred during the first half of the match against Gor Mahia, which the latter won 3-2.
When the team returned to their dressing room at halftime, they were met with the shocking news that their valuables had been stolen.
Thirteen phones were stolen, and a total of 18 people lost cash amounting to approximately Sh94,050.
The incident caused a five-minute delay to the start of the second half, leaving the players in a state of shock.
Goalkeeper Elvis Ochoro, defenders Herit Mungai, Midfielders Sven Yidah, Anthony Kimani, and Mohamed Bajaber lost their phones only, while Nicholas Kipkirui, Wycliffe Otieno, Davis Agesa, Jacob Osano, Rowland Makati, assistant coach John Amboko, keeper trainer Zachary Onyango, and trainer Arthur Museve lost both phones and cash.
The team has reported the incident to the Kasarani Stadium security team and the nearby police post, who have assured them of a thorough investigation using CCTV footage.
