On May 29, 2022, a viral video surfaced showing a stark racial divide at an entertainment joint in Nairobi's Westlands area.

The video, which has been widely shared on social media, appears to show separate queues for black and white patrons at the Alchemist club.

One Twitter user, who claims to have witnessed the incident, expressed his disappointment and frustration with the club's behavior.

How will we ever beat racism if we are racist against our own selves. Last week when I went to Alchemist there was a line for white and Indian people separate from the blacks’. One black guy tried using the line akachujwa immediately. This is sad really pic.twitter.com/GcY2oPkcmI — Slim daddy (@murgormurgor)

Another Twitter user pointed out that this is not the first time the club has been accused of racism, citing an incident in 2018 where a lady and her friends were discriminated against.

They never change…. https://t.co/SxYgucc0d2 — the reader 🇰🇪 (@tookenyan)

The Alchemist club has since issued an apology, stating that they regret the incident and are committed to addressing the issues head-on.

However, their apology has been met with skepticism and outrage on social media, with many Kenyans calling out the club for their racist behavior.

One Twitter user sarcastically said that the club should be applauded for their efforts to end racism, while another user felt that the apology was a joke and that the club would revisit the situation once the elections are done.

This has to be some sort of sick joke 😂 Wacha kwanza tumalizane na elections, tutarudia hawa baadaye. https://t.co/agIE8yrjn0 — The boy ❤🤟🏾 (@MwauraMarvin)

The incident comes a few weeks after a Kenya footballer based in Belgium was spat at during a league match, and the club has since apologized for the incident and promised to punish the culprit.
