Kenya's Widening Income Gap: Only 2.65% of Bank Accounts Hold Over Sh100,000

According to the Central Bank of Kenya, a staggering 97.35% of the country's 66.3 million bank accounts held less than Sh100,000 as of last year, underscoring Kenya's poor savings culture.

On the other hand, only 2.65% of the bank accounts, amounting to 1.65 million, held more than Sh100,000, reflecting a growth of 4.2% from the previous year.

These figures offer a glimpse into Kenya's widening income gap, where wealth is concentrated in the hands of a small segment of the population.
