IEBC Sets Timetable for Presidential Aspirant Clearance

On May 29, 2022, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) kicked off the clearance process for the 18 presidential aspirants at Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi, which will conclude on June 6, 2022.

The IEBC will scrutinize each aspirant's compliance with its requirements, including a valid nomination certificate, a certified list of 48,000 supporters from at least 24 counties, a Bachelor's degree, proof of nationality, proof of registration as a voter in Kenya, a signed and dated Code of Conduct, compliance with Chapter 6 of the Constitution, and a Sh200,000 nomination fee.

Here is the schedule of when each aspirant will appear before the IEBC:

May 30, 2022

June 1, 2022

  • Gibson Ngaruiya Nganga (Independent): 10 am

June 2, 2022

  • James Kamau (Independent): 11 am

June 3, 2022

June 4, 2022
