On a visit to Nasianda in Bumula Constituency, where Jacob Juma was laid to rest, Raila Odinga reiterated his commitment to ensuring that those behind the businessman's death are held accountable.
Speaking on Sunday, May 30, 2022, the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya presidential hopeful expressed his disappointment with the government's handling of the case, saying that the family of the late Juma has been left without closure due to the lack of progress in apprehending his killers.
Mr. Odinga recalled a conversation he had with Juma before his death, in which the businessman had shared his concerns about being targeted for assassination due to a dossier he possessed.
"Before Juma died, he told me that there is a plan to eliminate him but he said he would die for the truth. Juma was aware that there were people who wanted him dead," Mr. Odinga said.
Mr. Odinga also shared his personal experience of visiting the scene of Juma's murder, where he witnessed the extent of the violence inflicted on the businessman.
"I was among the first people who arrived where Juma had been shot some minutes ago. I saw the vehicle which was bullet sprayed," he added.
Mr. Odinga has vowed to prioritize the prosecution of Juma's killers once he forms government, promising that they will be brought to justice.
"We must get the people who killed Juma. They tortured him and he died with a lot of secrets. No matter how long it will take, we will find Juma's killers and be arraigned in court and charged," said the ODM leader.
