On Saturday, May 28, 2022, Strathmore Leos pulled off a stunning upset, defeating defending champions KCB 15-10 to claim the Christie 7s title at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.
The victory marked the end of KCB's 11-match winning streak in the 2022 National Sevens Circuit series.
Strathmore Leos had started strongly, with Philemon Olang scoring the first try of the match, followed by Barnabas Owuor's second try, which stretched the lead to 10-0.
KCB responded with a try from Geoffrey Okwach, but Strathmore Leos maintained their lead, with Mathew Mogaya's try extending their advantage to 15-5 at halftime.
In the second half, Kenya Sevens international Levy Amunga brought KCB within touching distance, but Strathmore Leos held on to win the 55th edition of Christie 7s.
Strathmore Leos won the tournament with an unbeaten record, triumphing in all six matches in the two-day event.
