On May 24, Silas Wanjaru, a devoted supporter of Deputy President William Ruto, arrived in Nairobi after a five-day journey from Nakuru, carrying a sculpture he had designed over a year.
However, his enthusiasm was short-lived as security officers at Dr Ruto's official residence in Karen blocked him from entering, citing the need for an appointment.
Wanjeru has been sleeping outside the residence, relying on the kindness of strangers for food and protection from theft.
Despite the challenges, he remains determined to meet his icon, claiming that he has been assured that the DP will meet him in the coming days.
Wanjeru's journey is motivated by his desire to mobilise support for Deputy President Ruto ahead of the August 9 General Election.
