Tragedy struck on the Mombasa-Malindi highway in Kilifi, Kenya, on May 29, 2022, when Rabai MP William Kamoti lost his life in a road accident.

According to reports, Kamoti's vehicle was involved in a collision in Mnarani, Kilifi, while he was returning home after being cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

His driver sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Kilifi County Hospital for treatment.

The ODM party expressed shock and sadness over Kamoti's untimely death, saying, "It's with shock and sadness that we as ODM have received the news of the untimely death of our MP for Rabai, Hon. William Kamoti, shortly after presenting his nomination papers to IEBC. We stand with the people of Rabai. Rest in Peace Hon. Kamoti."
