On May 29, 2022, Deputy President William Ruto emphasized the need for the government to strengthen its relationship with religious institutions in order to address social issues in the country.
During a church service in Embu, Ruto led the Kenya Kwanza team and promised to elevate the role of religion in governance. He also called on religious institutions to collaborate with the government in addressing social ills.
As part of his efforts to engage with the religious fraternity, Ruto attended a series of meetings in Kirinyaga following the church service.
