On Saturday night, a tragic incident occurred at the Lexo Lounge nightclub in Kilifi town, where a 30-year-old man lost his life during a UEFA Champions League match between Real Madrid and Liverpool.
The deceased, Feisal Bushuti Mkongo, alias Dedan, was allegedly killed by the bouncers after a wrangle ensued at the bar.
According to Kilifi North Sub County police commander, Jonathan Koech, the manager and one of the bouncers were arrested to assist with investigations.
"The public informed us that there was a commotion at the Lexo Lounge, and a group of violent youth were throwing stones and breaking bottles in the club. We calmed the youth and established that a young man had died after being assaulted by the bouncers at the club," said Koech.
A relative of the deceased, David Mwazele, stated that Mkongo died at the entrance of the club after a disagreement with the cashier over change.
"He had gone to Lexo to watch the game. He had paid the entrance fee, and the cashier wanted to retain his change. That is when they disagreed, and they started arguing. The cashier called the bouncers, and they started beating him until he died," Mwazele said.
The incident has left the community in shock, with many calling for justice for the deceased.
