Kalonzo Rejoins Azimio, Secures Prominent Roles

Former Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka has rejoined Azimio la Umoja, securing prominent roles in the party's government. According to sources, Kalonzo accepted the Chief Minister position offered by Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga after being bypassed for the running mate slot.

However, Kalonzo's allies insisted that the Chief Minister slot must be guaranteed in a written pact to prevent him from being shortchanged after the August 9 General Election.

Raila has reportedly agreed to give Kalonzo the Energy and Foreign Affairs ministries in the 'Azimio government'. He also negotiated for the Devolution and Water dockets.

On May 29, 2022, Kalonzo called a meeting with his allies and told them to announce that he had decided to work with those determined to foster peace and end corruption in Kenya, according to Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr.
