Bhang Heist: Police Chase Suspects, Leave 5,457 Rolls Behind

On May 28, 2022, a high-speed chase unfolded on the Rangwe-Oyugis Road in Homa Bay County. Police had ordered a Toyota Ipsum to stop, but the driver defied the orders and sped towards Kuoyo Kochia Secondary School.

Cornered at Namba trading centre, the suspects managed to flee, leaving behind their vehicle. Police searched the Toyota Ipsum and found 5,457 rolls of bhang, valued at Sh655,000.

‘We’ll use the vehicle registration plate number to trace the owner,’ said Rangwe Sub-County Police Commander Apeles Chacha.
