DRC Suspends RwandAir from its Airspace

On May 26, 2022, the Democratic Republic of Congo accused Rwanda of supporting the M23 rebels fighting government forces in North Kivu province. Rwanda denied any involvement.

Patrick Muyaya, the spokesman for the Congolese government, announced that the Democratic Republic of Congo has “immediately” suspended the flights of RwandAir, adding that a “stern warning is given to the Government of Rwanda”.

Following the announcement, RwandAir cancelled all flights to Kinshasa, Lubumbashi, and Goma with immediate effect.
