May 29, 2022, Nairobi, Kenya - The Wiper Party has clarified that its leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, is still in the presidential race.

According to National Election Board (NEB) Chairperson Agatha Solitei, the party had met the requirement of presenting electronic signatures by the stipulated deadline of May 29.

"The National Elections Board (NEB) wishes to confirm that we have complied with this requirement as we have already submitted the soft copy of our candidate's supporters in Excel format today, May 28, 2022, which is well within the deadline set by the IEBC of May 29, 2022," Solitei stated.

On Saturday, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) released a list of 16 shortlisted presidential aspirants, with Musyoka listed as non-compliant for failing to submit a soft copy of the names of at least 2000 supporters in a minimum of 24 counties.

However, Solitei termed the details as a misrepresentation of facts, stating that Musyoka's documents were presented to IEBC for 33 counties on May 25, 2022, and that the IEBC had requested the conversion of the electronic data to an Excel format by May 29, 2022.

"It is important for the public to know of the misrepresentation of facts by the media that His Excellency Hon. Steven Kalonzo Musyoka was not cleared or has been blocked by the IEBC to vie," Solitei stated.

The NEB Chairperson assured Musyoka's supporters that their candidate will be on the ballot once cleared by IEBC, urging them not to lose faith.
