On May 29, 2022, Kenya's top basketball teams gathered at Nyayo Stadium for the national Red Bull half court 3x3 tournament.
The competition brought together 23 teams from Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu counties, with 15 teams competing in the men's category and eight teams in the women's category.
Kenya 1, Kenya 2, Vikings, and Tusks were among the men's teams that clashed in the semifinals, while Elite and Baddies faced off in the women's finals.
According to Hilmi Ali, vice chairperson of the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) and national coordinator of the 3 on 3 basketball tournament, the event has provided opportunities for players from disadvantaged backgrounds.
“We have seen players from different places who have benefited from the tournament, we hope to reach even more through such tournaments,” Ali said.
The tournament has also improved players' skills, according to the national women's basketball team captain.
