On Saturday, May 28, 2022, Kenya Simbas concluded their South African tour with a disappointing 24-7 loss to SWD Eagles in the Currie Cup First Division.
The match took place in Cape Town, where the Kenyans initially took the lead through Timothy Omela's try, which he scored after chasing down a grubber kick on 11 minutes.
Coach Paul Odera's team held a narrow 7-5 lead at halftime, but the Eagles responded strongly in the second half, outmuscling the Simbas from the line-outs and conceding tries from Austin Prins, Keano Hendricks, and another from Hendricks on 77 minutes.
Gene Willemse successfully converted two of the tries, securing a convincing win for the Eagles.
The Simbas are scheduled to return home on Sunday for the remaining matches against Leopards on June 4 and Eastern Province Elephants on June 11.
With this loss, Odera's side has left South Africa with six losses and one win, ahead of the 2022 Rugby Africa Cup and 2023 Rugby World Cup qualifiers in France.
