London Distillers Kenya (LDK) has made a significant achievement in the global spirits industry by winning two awards at the 2022 Monde Selection Quality Awards.
The company's Safari Rare Whisky took home the Gold Award, while its Kenya King Gin received a Silver award for quality.
According to Mr. Avin Galot, Managing Director of London Distillers Kenya, the company's strong performance at the competition was due to its rigorous research and development process, as well as its intensive quality control measures.
LDK's products are tested and tasted by the Monde Selection Institute, an annual non-competitive award open to food, drinks, and cosmetics products. The institute grants a quality label to consumer products, which can be compared to the quality stars of a hotel or the prestigious Michelin Guide.
The judges praised the new design of the packaging and visual appearance of the Safari Rare Whisky bottle, as well as its caramel fragrance accompanied by faintly pronounced woody notes marked by a touch of vanilla.
They also commended the Kenya King Gin for its well-flavored profile, which develops a rather clearly pronounced scent of juniper accompanied by notes of lemon and lemongrass.
LDK's recent rebranding of their packaging allowed them to realign their message, goals, and visual identity, contributing to their win at the Monde Selection Quality Awards.
With over 25 brands in their portfolio, London Distillers Kenya has grown significantly since its inception in 1985. The company offers a wide range of spirits, including whisky, gin, brandy, vodka, rum, and liqueurs.
LDK's flagship brands, Safari Cane and Old Cask Rum, have previously met international standards of quality at the Monde Selection Awards. The company also distributes global brands such as Jack Daniels, Jameson, Bacardi, and Bombay Sapphire in the East Africa region.
“Making exceptional high-quality beverages is at the heart of London Distillers Kenya, and what we strive for every day,” adds Mr. Avin Galot. “We aim to maintain exceptional international standards and affordable prices to ensure that each Kenyan consumer can afford a quality drink.”
