On Monday, May 23, 2022, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria made a scathing accusation against the National Intelligence Service (NIS) during an economic forum in Kiambu.
According to Kuria, the NIS was involved in the procurement of the Western Bypass, a 17km stretch, which was constructed at an inflated cost of Ksh1 billion per kilometer.
Speaking at the forum, Kuria wondered, 'Since when did NIS start procuring construction of roads on behalf of the public?' He further stated, 'The people who have misappropriated the costs of the Western Bypass and the Lamu - Garissa road are with you. If you (Mr Odinga and Ms Karua) stand for integrity, get them arrested today.'
Kuria, who is keen on capturing the Kiambu gubernatorial seat, also opined that the Lamu - Garissa road, a LAPSSET project, was allocated Ksh86 million per kilometer of gravel, terming this as an outright daylight robbery by the government.
He further called on the residents of Kiambu to vote out President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Azimio La Umoja team, as well as the Jubilee Party.
Mr Kuria is gunning for the Kiambu top seat and will face off with Jubilee's James Nyoro, who is also the incumbent, Tujibebe Wakenya Party's William Gitau Kabogo, and United Democratic Movement's (UDA) senator Paul Kimani Wamatangi.
