Published on July 17, 2019, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is in talks with three countries to arrange friendly matches for the Harambee Starlets ahead of their 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifier against Malawi.
According to FKF communication manager Barry Otieno, the negotiations are still ongoing, with the aim of playing at least one friendly match before the team faces Malawi.
Should the talks bear fruit, the matches will be played in a two-leg format in the first two weeks of August, with the first leg taking place in Malawi on August 28 and the second leg on September 1.
David Ouma's charges have been in residential training at Camp Toyoyo since Monday, with a provisional squad of 39 players preparing for the upcoming assignment.
Notable omissions from the team include Sweden-based duo Mary Kinuthia and Christine Nafula, who were part of the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifiers against Uganda and Equatorial Guinea.
However, Ouma has expressed confidence in the players in camp, stating that they have been good in training and possess the skills required to deliver against Malawi.
