On Tuesday, a shocking murder took place in Nanyuki's Ngei estate, leaving residents stunned.
A 29-year-old man, identified as Dennis Mwangi, allegedly killed his 59-year-old father, Peter Ndegwa, in cold blood.
According to Laikipia East police boss Kizito Mutoro, the headless body of Ndegwa was found lying in a pool of blood outside their house, while Mwangi sat pensively outside, smoking a cigarette next to the bucket containing his father's head.
"We have arrested the suspect and are still carrying out further investigations into the incident," Mutoro said in his office. "I'd like to urge people to resolve their differences amicably instead of resorting to violence and murder."
Mwangi was promptly arrested by police officers and detained at Nanyuki police station. Ndegwa's body was taken to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
As investigations continue, Mwangi is expected to be arraigned in court soon.
