On Monday night, a middle-aged man from Kyeleni village encountered a stray hyena on his way home from a local shopping center.

The beast, suspected to have strayed from Mt Kilimambogo's Ol Donyo Sabuk National Reserve, attacked the man, leaving him severely injured.

Fortunately, passers-by rushed to the scene and rescued the man, who was later rushed to Kangundo Level 4 Hospital for treatment.

According to Kenya Wildlife Service officer Polycarp Okuku, the victim is currently in a stable condition and is recuperating in the hospital.

Okuku advised members of the public to report any wild animals they see in their neighborhoods to prevent similar incidents.
