Since welcoming her baby boy Archie in May, Meghan Markle has been making a series of public appearances, and her hair has been a topic of interest among fans and celebrity observers alike.

At the European premier of the Lion King, Meghan joined a host of celebrity stars on the red carpet, where she met Beyonce and Jay Z. The two famous couples chatted for several minutes, and the two women shared a sweet hug.

Beyonce congratulated Meghan on the birth of Archie, calling her 'so beautiful', before saying 'we love you guys'. Jay Z then offered Meghan and Harry some parenting advice, saying 'always find some time for yourself'.

But what's behind Meghan's new hairstyle? Celebrity hair stylist James Johnson suggests that she may be using a sleek bun to protect her post-birth hair. According to Johnson, when you're pregnant, your hair cycle stops, and when you give birth, all the hair you should have lost in the nine months falls out over a quick period.

Johnson told Mail Online: 'Meghan may have opted for a scraped back bun to prevent her hair from further damage. If her hair was damaged during pregnancy, putting her hair up will prevent it from further damage.'

He also points out that the sleek bun is a quick hairstyle, perfect for a new mum like Meghan, who reportedly does her own hair. It's also a good look for the hot weather we've had recently.

It's worth noting that Meghan has been favouring this hairstyle since becoming a mum, wearing it four times, including at Trooping the Colour and Archie's christening.
