Dr. Anguche Amukobole, a 40-year-old cardiopulmonary specialist, has achieved great success in Germany, where he is the consultant in charge of the Pulmonary Critical Care Unit in Saxony Anhalt.

He leads a team of doctors in an intensive care unit specializing in ventilator weaning, a highly specialized operation that costs patients over Sh300,000 per day.

Dr. Anguche was born in Molo, Nakuru County, and rose to the second highest level in the medical hierarchy in Germany, playing a key role in the certification of their unit.

He is fluent in six languages, including Luhya, Kikuyu, Swahili, English, German, and French, and is also a licensed private pilot.

Despite his current success, Dr. Anguche's early life was marked by poverty, which he attributes to his father's low earnings as a storekeeper at Molo Academy.

However, his academic brilliance made a huge difference in his success, allowing him to study at the school despite his family's financial struggles.

Dr. Anguche scored 619 out of 700 marks in his KCPE in 1993, making him a village hero, and went on to study medicine at the University of Nairobi, where he also received a scholarship to study a National Diploma in Computer Science.

He eventually quit working as a government doctor in Kenya due to the lack of resources, which led to the loss of patients he could have saved.

Dr. Anguche now hopes to continue doing his work until he can no longer do it, and believes that the country benefits from knowledge transfer, cultural exchange, and the money sent back home by those working abroad.
