Kim Kardashian has been a driving force behind prison and criminal justice reform, and her latest crusade is for the release of Ohio prisoner Kevin Keith, who was wrongfully convicted of a triple homicide in 1994.
On Tuesday, Kardashian shared a video on her Instagram account, introducing her followers to Keith and explaining his story. She shared an image of the two of them via video conferencing, with Keith's face blurred to protect his identity.
‘Kevin Keith was convicted of a triple homicide back in 1994 in Ohio and was sentenced to death,’ Kardashian wrote in the caption. ‘I heard about Kevin Keith’s case last year & the more I learn about it, the more I believe the world needs to hear what happened to him! He was on death row & came within days of execution before the governor of Ohio commuted his sentence to life w/o parole.'
Kardashian also highlighted the programs that Keith has created in prison to help others better themselves, and expressed her hope that justice will be served soon and Keith will be released.
Keith's case has garnered significant attention in recent years, with many advocates believing that he was wrongly convicted. Kardashian's advocacy has been instrumental in bringing attention to the case, and her efforts have been praised by many.
Kim Kardashian's activism in this area is not new, as she was also instrumental in securing the release of non-violent drug offender Alice Marie Johnson last year. Johnson was serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for a first-time, non-violent drug offence.
