On July 17, 2019, Deputy President William Ruto's allies launched a scathing attack on Jubilee Secretary-General Raphael Tuju, accusing him of having links with the Opposition.
However, State House spokesperson Kanze Dena defended Tuju, stating that his meeting with ODM leaders in Rarieda constituency was official and sanctioned by the President.
Ms Dena explained that the meeting was a government function, and Tuju was there in his capacity as the presidential representative, reading the Head of State's speech.
Mr Tuju also confirmed that he attended the meeting in his official capacity, saying it was an official trip sanctioned by the President.
Deputy President Ruto had taken to Twitter on Sunday, questioning Tuju's new role
