Published on July 17, 2019, Gor Mahia head coach Hassan Oktay is downplaying the pressure ahead of their Cecafa Kagame Cup quarterfinal match against Zambian side Green Eagles.

Speaking to Standard Sports, Oktay stated that he is not taking the tournament seriously and therefore, his players are not feeling any pressure.

‘To be honest, I’m not taking this tournament very seriously and that’s why we are not feeling any pressure,’ Oktay said.

He further emphasized that the team is comprised of young players who are there to gain experience and prepare for the new season.

‘When you have an intention of winning such tournaments, then you must come with your best squad and not kids. Of course, people’s expectations are high, but the truth of the matter is, we brought kids here to enjoy, gain experience as we prepare for the new season,’ Oktay explained.

The match against Green Eagles will be followed by a 7:30 pm clash between hosts and three-time winners APR and DR Congo’s AS Maniema.
