On Tuesday, July 15, 2019, Samuel Wambui received a dummy cheque from BetLion Managing Director Spencer Okach for winning Sh2 million with a Sh100 bet.

Wambui's betslip consisted of eight teams, and he managed to get all his selections correct, making him the biggest winner this past weekend.

"I was speechless when I realised how much was at stake with the existing odds on my bet slip, at one time I thought of cashing out during the eighth game, but I challenged myself to see the game out. Honestly, it was one of the best decisions I ever made," Wambui said.

BetLion, which launched its operations in Kenya last year, prioritizes ensuring that its players receive their winnings as soon as any bet is settled. The firm's Managing Director, Spencer Okach, said, "We appreciate the trust showed by our customers, who believe in us to honour payouts."

BetLion currently sponsors one of Kenya's top professional golfers, David Wakhu, based at Golf Park Nairobi. The firm also operates in Uganda and offers Africa's largest Jackpot, the Goliath, worth Sh350 million.
