On the heels of a narrow escape from relegation last season, Zoo Kericho is gearing up to inject new blood into its squad. The Kericho-based club is seeking to enlist the services of five new players before the start of the new season.

According to head coach Herman Iswekha, the club intends to hire two defenders, two midfielders, and one striker to fill the gap left by players who have since moved to other clubs. This move is aimed at bolstering the team's performance in the SportPesa Premier League.

Iswekha revealed that the club is narrowing in on five players and hopes to recruit them before the season starts. However, he declined to disclose the names of the players, promising to do so when the club resumes training tomorrow.

One player who has since rejoined the club is goalkeeper Vincent Misikhu, who has returned from Wazito. Misikhu was previously Zoo's goalkeeper before he left for Wazito.

Key players who have left the club include Danson Chetambe, who has joined Bandari, Nicholas Kipkirui (Gor Mahia), Isaac Kipyegon (AFC Leopards), and Michael Madoya (Tusker). Despite losing these players, Zoo managed to finish 15th in the table standings last season, narrowly avoiding relegation.

Iswekha expressed optimism about the club's chances in the upcoming season, stating, "We are resuming trainings on Thursday at the Kericho Green Stadium ahead of the start of the season. We will be able then to know who has accepted our terms and subsequently joining the club. So for now we wait till then."
