On July 16, 2019, Netflix's The Witcher series welcomed a new member to its cast of characters - Roach, the faithful steed of Geralt of Rivia. In a promotional photo shared by Henry Cavill on his Instagram, fans finally got a glimpse of the horse that has been the subject of much anticipation.

Roach is a beloved character in the video games and books by Andrzej Sapkowski, and fans have been eagerly awaiting a glimpse of the horse since the cast shots were first unveiled at the beginning of July. Cavill, who plays Geralt of Rivia, teased more information to come at San Diego Comic Con, which kicked off on Thursday, July 18th.

"The road to San Diego is long. The good news is, on her worst day, Roach beats the company of Men, Elves, Gnomes and even Dwarves. She's not always easy, but she knows more than most and cares just enough to be the only kind of company worth enjoying," Cavill wrote on his Instagram.

Not much is known about the actual horse playing Roach, except that he's now joining the ranks of other beloved horses from film and television, including The War Horse, Seabiscuit, and Neidermeyer's horse from Animal House.
