On July 16, 2019, Celtic manager Neil Lennon made it clear that the Scottish champions would not be selling Kieran Tierney to Arsenal on the cheap.
The latest bid from Arsenal fell short of Celtic's valuation of the Scotland international, which is reportedly £25 million ($31 million, Sh3.1 billion).
Lennon stated, "I don't know what Arsenal's financial state is, I know what ours is and we are quite comfortable with the situation at the moment."
He added, "There has been a second bid, the bid has been rejected, and it's as you were. Whether they come in again or not, I can't answer that."
When asked if Arsenal's bid was disrespectful, Lennon said, "Disrespectful is strong but I do feel our valuation of Kieran is correct."
He also compared Tierney's value to that of Manchester United's recent purchase of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace for £50 million, saying, "We feel Kieran is a far more experienced and more rounded full-back at this juncture of his career. So he's an asset for us and we rate the player very, very highly."
