On Friday morning, community elders in Bubisa, Marsabit county, took a significant step towards peace by surrendering three illegal firearms to security officers in Turbi.
According to Chief Joseph Jirm, the elders handed over two Ak-47 assault rifles and a G3 rifle, marking a positive response to the government's call for peace in the region.
The government had urged the warring communities in the area to embrace peace as the key to sustainable development, and the elders' move is seen as a welcome step in this direction.
The sub-county security team, comprising police, DCI, and National government officers, welcomed the move and encouraged other elders to follow their example.
