On July 16, 2019, the Cameroon Football Federation made a shocking move by sacking coach Clarence Seedorf and assistant Patrick Kluivert, citing the team's disappointing performance at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Cameroon's exit from the tournament was a premature one, according to the federation, after they lost 3-2 to Nigeria in the last 16 round.

Seedorf, a former Dutch international and decorated footballer, had a tough time as the Indomitable Lions' coach, winning only three of nine competitive games since taking over in August 2018.

The federation is now on the hunt for a new manager to prepare the national side for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, which Cameroon will be hosting.

Seedorf's transition into management has been marked by several setbacks, including failures with AC Milan and Chinese club Shenzhen, relegation with Deportivo La Coruna, and early elimination with Cameroon.
