On May 10, 2022, a young woman's story of hope and resilience inspired many Kenyans. Karen Mikiugu, a 24-year-old from a humble background, has been making waves with her selfless efforts to help orphaned children.
Having grown up in the slums, Karen understands the struggles that many orphans face. Her determination to make a difference has taken her to various children's homes across the country, where she shares her resources and provides hope to those in need.
One of her most popular stops is the Compassionate Children's Home in Githurai 44, as well as the Toto Rehabilitation Center in Kasarani. Her registered program, 'Laughter of Hope CBO Initiative,' has been receiving numerous calls from parents seeking assistance.
Financial Support for Karen's Initiative ¶
It's not easy to support every children's home, and Karen has been seeking financial assistance from well-wishers. Her own journey has been marked by challenges, having grown up in a slum with a single parent. However, with the help of well-wishers, she was able to graduate at a tertiary level.
Today, Karen is focused on helping kids through sponsorship and visiting as many orphanages as she can. Her dedication to this cause is a testament to the power of kindness and compassion.
