Sameer Manager Arrested for Flouting Nema's Effluent Rules

On July 16, 2019, a crackdown on environmental offenders led to the arrest of a manager at Sameer Agriculture and Livestock Limited.

According to reports, the manager, Satendra Sharma, was apprehended at the company's officers in Salgaa along Nakuru-Eldoret highway by police and inspectors from the National Environment Management Authority.

Mr. Sharma is the plant manager for Daima dairy company, whose products are processed by Sameer.

He was taken to Molo Police Station and is expected to face charges related to the alleged flouting of Nema's regulations for discharging effluent.

Betty Nzioka, the authority's monitoring and evaluation director, stated that an update would follow the incident.
