On July 16, 2019, a dramatic incident unfolded in Nambale, Busia County, where a 51-year-old man, Pascal Omusungu, was arrested for allegedly biting off his wife's lower lip and left ear.

According to Area OCPD Robert Ndambiri, the suspect had gone into hiding after the incident but was tracked down by police acting on a tip-off from members of the public.

Omusungu, who was cutting sugarcane at a farm close to his home, was arrested on Tuesday morning and detained at Nambale Police Station.

He is expected to be presented in court on Wednesday.

The incident occurred after Omusungu's wife, Jackline Kerubo, gave a neighbour vegetables from their farm, despite her husband's warning not to do so.

Kerubo, who has been in the marriage for 21 years, said her husband pounced on her while in the kitchen, hitting her on the head before biting off her lower lip and ear.

She sought treatment at Nambale Sub-county hospital.
