On July 16, 2019, Norwich City announced the signing of defender Sam Byram from West Ham United on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
Byram, a 25-year-old right back, had made 36 appearances for West Ham since joining them in 2016. However, he spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest and missed most of the campaign due to a knee injury.
"I'm delighted. It's all happened quite fast and it's been a quick turnaround," Byram said, reflecting on his move to Norwich. "Obviously, I was not in the plans for West Ham going forward and I needed a new challenge to go out and push on after last season," he added.
Byram joined the Norwich squad on their pre-season camp in Germany, marking the beginning of his new chapter with the promoted Premier League club.
As a Championship winner, Norwich earned promotion to the English top flight, and Byram is now part of the team looking to make a mark in the Premier League.
