Published on July 16, 2019, Lynda Nyangweso has spoken out about her experiences with trolls on social media.
She revealed that she had posted a simple vacation picture, but it sparked a wave of negative comments, with some even calling her a 'whale'.
'I posted the picture because we were happy and we were having fun,' she said. 'We were on vacation like any other regular family on vacation.'
Despite the trolls, Lynda was grateful that she didn't log on to Instagram during her vacation, which meant she didn't have to deal with the negativity firsthand.
'Honestly, the best thing I did was post and went on with my vacation,' she said. 'It is only afterward I saw people expected me to wear I don’t know garbage bags.'
Lynda also praised her supportive husband, who remained oblivious to the trolls' comments.
'Ooh my God my husband is the most amazing person because he is the blindest to such things so I thank him for that,' she said. 'But I will say this time what got to me was that people DMing him and telling him really mean things.'
Lynda expressed her disappointment that she often expects to be trolled whenever she posts on social media.
'Did I expect this? In an ideal world, I would say no I just expect people to see the picture and like it or not but to be honest, every time I post I expect people to be mean,' she said.
One comment that particularly affected Lynda was a comment on her daughter, where someone said she didn't deserve a child based on her appearance.
