Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has issued a stern directive to headteachers across the country, instructing them to register Grade 6, Standard 8, and Form Four candidates for their national examinations within one week.
Magoha expressed disappointment at the slow pace of registration, which commenced in April 2022, and warned that the government will pay exam fees for all students, making it the children's right.
"To the headteachers and principals, we are disappointed that you have yet to start registering students and pupils for the forthcoming KPSEA, KCPE, and KCSE exams," Magoha said. "Please ensure that every child is registered. I hope we are not going to argue about this."
Magoha also cautioned parents against transferring their children to different schools, stating that it is only under special circumstances that a student can be transferred.
Additionally, the Cabinet Secretary urged parents to take their children to school, regardless of whether they have paid the whole fee or not, as all national examinations are slated to take place between November and December this year.
