Published on July 16, 2019, HMD Global is gearing up to release successors to the Nokia 7.1 and Nokia 6.1 handsets that arrived in Kenya in 2018. The new devices, Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2, are currently in the works, with details emerging in leaks suggesting that the company is working on identical external designs for both devices.
According to tipster Roland Quandt, the Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2 will have the same external design, meaning they will fit into each other's cases perfectly. However, the internal configurations, including the camera, are expected to differ, although the exact details are still unclear.
Quandt shared his findings on Twitter, stating, 'Looks like Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 7.2 will fit the exact same cases. Identical outer design, internal differences?' The tweet was posted on July 15, 2019.
Earlier this year, alleged specs of the Nokia 6.2 leaked online, pointing to a 6.2-inch display screen with a camera hole punch, Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC, 4/6GB RAM, a 16MP dual-lens Carl Zeiss camera, and OZO audio technology. The Nokia 7.2, on the other hand, is expected to have a significantly upgraded processor, possibly the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, as seen in the Nokia X71 released in China in April 2019.
The Nokia X71 features a 6.2-inch 1080p display screen with a camera hole punch housing a 16MP selfie shooter, while the back has a tri-lens 48MP + 8MP + 5MP camera and a fingerprint scanner. Under the hood, the X71 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC allied to 6GB RAM and 128GB expandable storage.
