On July 16, 2019, Kenyan artists Joshua Muthure Muturi and Denis Mukundi unveiled their innovative Tribesman collection, a series of eco-friendly watches that seamlessly merge African design with minimalist aesthetics.
The collection's name is a testament to the rich cultural heritage of Africa, with Muturi explaining, “Almost, if not all countries in Africa have tribes and most of them identify with the spear and the shield. This signifies the strong belief to protect what we love in its own element.”
What sets the Tribesman collection apart is its commitment to sustainability. The watches are powered by solar energy, and the production process utilizes eco-friendly materials, reducing the brand's carbon footprint.
Each piece in the collection is a masterpiece, boasting a range of impressive features, including a battery that can last up to 20 years, thanks to its ability to harness both natural and artificial light. The watches are also 5 ATM waterproof, allowing wearers to enjoy them in the shower, and come in a variety of case colors, including black, rose gold, silver, and gun-metal.
The Tribesman collection has been launched on Kickstarter, providing an opportunity for enthusiasts to pledge their support and order their own piece of this unique and sustainable timepiece.
The collection is part of the Chale brand, an African-inspired watch brand that is pushing the boundaries of eco-friendly design.
