On July 11, 2019, a domestic row turned violent in Nambale, Busia County, leaving a 39-year-old woman with serious injuries.
Jackline Kerubo, a mother of six, revealed that the family dispute started when she gave a neighbor vegetables from their farm, despite her husband's warning not to do so.
Speaking to journalists at Nambale Police Station, Kerubo said her husband, Pascal Omusolo, who has since gone into hiding, seriously beat her before a neighbor intervened.
She sought treatment at Nambale Sub-county hospital and recounted the horrific incident, saying her husband pounced on her while in the kitchen, hitting her on the head before biting off her lower lip and ear.
Her 8-year-old child rescued her by hitting the suspect on the head.
Area Chief Maryline Oundoh called on couples to seek counseling from relevant authorities when facing challenges in their marriages.
A hunt for the suspect is ongoing.
