Published on July 16, 2019, Isiolo Governor Mohamed Kuti has sounded the alarm over the dire situation in the county, where drought has taken a devastating toll.
Speaking in Isiolo, Governor Kuti emphasized the need for a speedy resolution to the stalemate over the division of revenue bill, which has brought services in the county to a standstill.
The drought, which has affected most parts of the county, has left residents in dire need of relief food and water, with the situation set to escalate if urgent interventions are not made.
According to Governor Kuti, the deadlock has hindered the county government's efforts to cushion residents from the drought, highlighting the need for measures to address the crisis before it's too late.
Meanwhile, in Timboni village in Malindi, Kilifi County, residents are experiencing the effects of drought, with some opting to ignore the ban on logging in their desperation to earn a coin from charcoal sales.
Residents are now calling on the government to intervene and address these challenges by constructing dams for irrigation.
Elsewhere, in Turkana county, a religious organization has initiated a relief effort, distributing food and water to residents living in drought-stricken areas.
The clergy are also calling on well-wishers to come to their rescue and aid citizens affected by drought in the country.
