On July 16, 2019, the government of Kenya issued a call to action for innovators to develop financial products that will help people manage their funds.

According to Dr. Katherine Getau, CEO of the ICT Authority, there are opportunities in financial technology that enable people to save and plan their funds effectively.

The Presidential Digitalent Programme, launched in 2015, aims to incubate ICT talents and position Kenya as a regional ICT hub. The programme has seen over 900 interns graduate, creating more than 400 job opportunities and attracting investments in the ICT sector.

Additionally, the Ajira Digital Programme was unveiled to help unemployed Kenyans secure online jobs. ICT Principal Secretary Dr. Jerome Ochieng is encouraging more youth to enroll under the Ajira Digital Programme to be empowered for freelance ICT jobs.
