Kenyan footballer Victor Wanyama is on the cusp of a major milestone in his career, with reports emerging that he is set to acquire a British passport in the coming weeks.
Having resided in the United Kingdom for more than six years, Wanyama, the 28-year-old Harambee Stars skipper, has met the threshold for acquiring a British passport.
According to the Daily Mail, Wanyama turned down a proposed move abroad last year in a bid to qualify for his passport, a decision that has now paid off.
Once he receives the passport, Wanyama will hold dual citizenship of Kenya and the UK, granting him the freedom to live and work in the UK and any other country in the European Union.
Wanyama's football journey has taken him from Scottish club Celtic in 2011 to Southampton in 2013 and eventually to English club Tottenham Hotspurs in 2016.
However, with the arrival of Tanguy Ndombele from French club Lyon, Wanyama is expected to leave Tottenham this summer.
