Deputy President William Ruto and his allies have launched a scathing attack on Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju, accusing him of working with opposition leader Raila Odinga to undermine Ruto's 2022 presidential ambitions.
Tuju has denied the allegations, saying he is simply working to deliver on President Uhuru Kenyatta's agenda.
According to Tuju, he was in Siaya county over the weekend to commission development projects on behalf of the President, and had nothing to do with Raila.
However, Ruto's allies have vowed to eject Tuju from the party, accusing him of being a liability and working under the instructions of 'anti-Ruto' figures in government.
On July 14, 2019, DP Ruto tweeted that Tuju had turned into a Raila strategist ahead of the 2022 presidential polls, saying 'So our democracy is so liberal that the SG of the ruling party has become the chief strategist of the opposition!! Maajabu.'
