Evlyn Mutua, a former gospel singer, has been at the center of controversy since her recent foray into secular music. The singer, known for her versatility in various musical styles, has been accused of ditching her Christian roots.

However, Mutua has come out to clarify that her decision to pursue secular music does not mean she has abandoned her faith. Speaking to Ghetto Radio, she emphasized that she still lives for Christ but has chosen to make a career change.

‘I am a contemporary artist who will be singing about everything and not just Jesus, I still live for Christ but decided to do a career change,’ she said.

Despite the negative comments, Mutua has received support from her family and congregation. Her parents have no issue with her decision, and congregants at her home church have also shown understanding.

Before her transition, Mutua had gained recognition in the gospel industry, including a nomination for a Groove Award in 2015 for her song ‘Delilah’ featuring Hopekid.
