On Monday evening, former South African football player Marc Batchelor was tragically shot dead in his car in Olivedale, police confirmed.
According to reports, two gunmen on motorbikes opened fire on his vehicle, leaving him fatally injured.
As of now, the motive behind the attack remains unknown, and a murder investigation has been launched, as reported by South African news broadcaster eNCA on July 16, 2019.
Images circulating on social media showed a bullet-riddled window on what was reported to be Mr. Batchelor's vehicle.
Police spokesman Lungelo Dlamini stated, “Yes, he was shot this evening by two men on a motorbike.”
“He died in his vehicle and nothing was taken. The motive is yet to be established, but we are investigating,” Dlamini added.
