On his return to Kenya on July 7, 2019, after spending five months in France undergoing treatment, Kibra MP Ken Okoth expressed his gratitude to his wife Monica for being his rock throughout his illness.

According to a friend and former high school mate, Fred Gori, Ken shared his experiences with his boys' club, highlighting the importance of taking care of one's wife.

Ken's words of wisdom were captured in a social media post by Gori, who shared photos of the meet-up: 'Guys, take care of your wives. You may have a lot of money for treatment, but nothing equals a woman who stands by you in your moment of illness.'

Monica's selfless act of taking time off from work and spending five months with Ken in France, where they had no relatives, made a significant difference in his recovery. Gori recalled, 'He was just recollecting how Monica has been by his side. Being in Paris where there are no relatives makes it so lonely. But Monica has been there through it all. She has taken time off from work and is not working.'
