Busia Man Bites Off Wife's Lip, Ear for Giving Neighbour Vegetables ¶
Published on July 16, 2019
Jackline Kerubo, a 39-year-old woman from Nambale in Busia county, is in deep pain after her husband of 21 years, Pascal Omusungu, bit off her lower lip and ears in a domestic scuffle.
According to Kerubo, the trouble started when she took some vegetables from their farm to give her neighbour who had come to ask for help. However, her husband was offended by the generosity and asked her not to dare.
Despite complying with her husband's wish and not giving the vegetables, Omusungu's anger did not subside. He waited until the neighbour left the house, then pounced on Kerubo with a devastating blow on the head, leaving her unconscious.
As if that was not enough, Omusungu proceeded to bite off Kerubo's lip and ears while she was still unconscious.
Kerubo was rescued by her son, who hit the cruel father with a spade and then took off when the father tried to turn on him.
Speaking to the media on Monday, July 15, a visibly distraught Kerubo narrated her ordeal, saying: 'He punched me on the head and I fell down and lost consciousness. He then started biting my lips and ears. I only realised I had no lip and ears when I regained consciousness.'
Incidents of domestic violence in Kenya have been on the rise in recent years, despite aggressive campaigns against the vice.
Since the start of August 2018, cases of gender-based violence have been reported in Kisii, Kasarani in Nairobi, Makueni, Bomet, and other counties, with most of the casualties being women.
